Is there a way to make certain threads global in vbulletin 5? I had this setup in 4 but don't see a way in 5?

There is no global threads facility in either vB4 or vB5. You can however use announcements. In vB4 these show up like a thread, in vB5 they look more like a notice. The options are in the same place in the admincp though, so I suspect you had a third party add on for vB4.MARK.B
