how to remove powered by

i have branding removal but they make it so complicated not like earlier versions where it was easy to remove. i followed the instructions and went to phrases and found the phrase but it wont let me remove it i tried everything. what am i doing wrong?

Download the software again. Upload the /core/install folder. Load /core/install/upgrade.php in your browser.

i did that it did nothing i already had latest version and its the same i just need to take off powered by they make you pay extra for that then make it so its impossible to do they really screwed me on that deal
