Testing before upgrading 4 to 5

I don't really have a locale server or a space where to test it so how can I make sure the current database won't crash once I update from 4.2.3 to vb 5?

how to do that?

Copy your database. Put the vBulletin 5 files in their own separate directory. Point them to the database copy. Run the upgrade.
