Lock down all contents to Registered Users only

what is the best way to lock down all content to Registered Users that are logged in only?

is there a way to get the email notification of subscriptions to contain the complete text rather than a truncated portion of the topic?

In AdminCP Usergroup Permissions Set UserGroups 1,3,4,8 Forum Viewing Permissions to "No" for "Can View Channels", "Can View Topics", and "Can View Others Content"

Unsure about the e-mail as I've never used it.

Not in the default software. You would have to have custom coding for this. Including the entire message in the notification is opposite to the use case of the software which is to bring people to your website as often as possible.
