The basic setup does not allow posting via appid. This is a Facebook restriction.

You need to ask for approval from Facebook to post via appid. This requires creating a video of the process for your site and submitting you app for proper permission approval.

All checked and green Circle next to app

        11. You will get a prompt confirming you want to do this. Click Confirm. You should see a green circle next to your app name confirming it is live. It will take several minutes to be completely public across all Facebook's servers. Do not submit your app for Approval. It is not necessary for this type of app and Facebook won't approve it.

The instructions that Mark linked to will not allow you to publish posts to Facebook as I said. Facebook has changed their rules in the interim.

You need to apply for permission to do this and get your App approved by Facebook in order to allow it. Your site will need to be on HTTPS as well. My recommendation is just to turn it off and use the Facebook Share button in every post after it is created.

Aha so basically Facebook integration is Share only

is it worth updating guides documentation etc to say this ?

turned it all off and Share works fine
