How to move CONTACT US from the footer to navbar

How to move CONTACT US from the footer to navbar

This used to be very easy in vB 4, where there was means to edit navbar from TEMPLATE MANAGER and where the footer contained the code $show['contactus'] that can be just simply moved –with minor adjustments- to fit in the navbar
    Look up

But cant seem to find any similar means on vB5 To simply remove CONTACT US from the footer menu and sort of transferring it to the navigation bar menu

Also inspecting the page with firebug shows only that CONTACT US belongs to Footer-tabbar, but within footer.css itself we cant see how to remove any footer-tabbar items such as CONTACT US or any other

    Any ideas ? thanks all..

You have to open your sitebuilder menu and click footer. There is the ContactUs-Link. Look into it and copy the data of the options. You could delete it there so it is not in the footer anymore.
Then you could open the Navigation Bar. There you could create a new menu-item and put in the data of contact-us. Target-URL= contact-us / Link Attributes = rel="nofollow" Name it like you want.

that was the start of the problem for us, right before we posed this question , we did attempt to delete CONTACT US in the site builder ---> footer , then simply delete!
but whenever we did delete it and attempted to save we got this error message "Error saving the navigation bar configuration. Please try again."

Then -of course you guessed it right- CONTACT US just refuses to go away !!

That was when we jumped into the conclusion that CONTACT US was kind of a default that couldn't be deleted from inside of the site builder GUI, and we posted the question hoping for some code to do that from inside the footer.css template

a hint!, we found out that this error happens only when the element you are attempting to delete from the footer navigation bar IS THE LAST ITEM REMAINING, in other words try to create an additional button X, then you can delete the CONTACT US button, but then again attempt to delete button X and you wind up with the same above mentioned error!

just to confirm our doubt , we run a fresh install, in the first run, the 1st thing we attempted was delete all buttons in site builder ---- > footer

the result is the same error! see attached

So its 100% sure that you cannot delete all the footers buttons from within the site builder !, you have to keep at least one

Looks like this is a bug that needs to be fixed

Do we get an amen on that ?

But nevertheless and without much harping on the loophole , is there a work around -for now- lets say a code edit to footer.css ??

If you feel that the feature of having a footer with no links is important then you should create an improvement request issue for this to be implemented. You can do so here:

All you need to fill in is the Summary (Title) and a description of what you want. Staff members can take care of the other fields for you. All requests are evaluated and assigned a priority for implementation based on customer impact.

As a workaround, you could edit the permissions for the link and set it to a usergroup that isn't used or wouldn't visit very often. Then they would be the only ones to see it. The permissions are in the same Site Builder location. Just check the box for the group that would see it.

The footer by default has Admin and Mod links. You could delete everything else but leave these in. They are there for a reason, and by default they only show to people with the right permissions.

If you've deleted them, you can add them back in, just make sure the usergroup permissions are set correctly.

His answer involves code customization which isn't supported here. This is why he posts on a site where it is supported.
