    loading photo from URL

I just wondered if you use the option to upload a photo to a post using the photo URL, what happens if the photo is then deleted from the site where the URL came from?

Does the forum store a local copy so it won't matter?

I guess it is not hot linking in anyway as that is a big no no.

      Thanks Bootsie1.

Not sure if I explained properly, I meant if I use the "upload from url" option that is available in a post to add an attachment, as opposed to using "upload from your computer"

If you upload from URL, rather than just hotlinking, then it is uploaded to your server as an attachment, so it won't matter what happens to the original.

Obviously, you need to be careful of copyright issues here.

Thanks Mark, that's what I needed to know . No problem with copyright I just wanted to use some photos from our Facebook page belonging to us, without having to save to my computer first.

The field is underneath the URL field. It is checked by default if you're using HTTPS.

Thanks Wayne, I was using the basic uploader from the attachment icon so didn't see that.

The basic uploader will always create an attachment and reference the file from a copy stored on the cloud server.
