Go to last post not working when display mode set to "Latest Activity"

    Hello,

I have configured in my user settings the display mode to "Latest Activity".

When I'm clicking the icon (2 white arrows right in a blue rectangle) next to a topic in the list of topics of a channel, I'm arriving at the last page of the thread. Normally it should bring me to page 1 of the thread as the latest activity view starts with the initial post followed by the latest post.

Is this issue already known and is there a way to fix it?

It is occurring also on this forum. So it should be quite easy to replicate. You only need a thread having more than one page of posts.

    Thanks!

    Oore

By design, if the activity is "started a topic", you are taken to the start of the topic. If it is "Replied to the topic", you are taken to that specific post, which will generally be on the last page.

I don't really understand. In my user settings I have configured "Latest Activity" as display mode (and not posts).

This is what's happening at this forum:

      1. Clicking on "Got to last post"

Name:	1.png
Views:	61
Size:	16.6 KB
ID:	4379966

      2. It brings me to page 4/4 of the thread (sorted from new to old) - this means I'm on the page showing the oldest and not the latest posts

Name:	2.png
Views:	53
Size:	32.2 KB
ID:	4379967
      3. The correct position would be page 1/4 as the latest post is the second

It is go to last post...not go to latest post. The last post will always be the one at the end of the thread, regardless of the sorting order.

I can see how that may seem counter-intuitive though. You could raise an improvement request in the tracker. Not sure how much traction it would get since hardly anybody seems to use the activity method of viewing threads.

The column "Last Post" in screenshot 1 contains a specific post. Shouldn't clicking on the little blue icon then bring you to this post?

Either the content of the column "Last Post" is wrong or the link isn't interpreted correctly. But i would guess more the second one is right. Most users would understand last post in the context of latest post.

I guess currently there is no other option when disabling the usage of the latest activity view to solve this.

This should probably be reported as a bug in that case. There are no configuration settings to change this behaviour.
