    Auto inactivate users

Is there a setting in 5.3.3 to automatically inactivate users based on their activity?

No. What would be the benefit of doing so? What does inactivate even mean?

The purpose would be to remove a user's access to the site if they are no longer active members. i.e. No logins within 180 days. I don't plan to delete them, but could something like a cron job determine a user's activity and change their usergroup to one that doesn't have access to the forum?

There is no way to do this in the software. Additional Scheduled Tasks can be created and added to your system. If you want it added to the software, you'll need to create a JIRA and it will most likely need more than 20 votes to get on a priority list.
