Logins fail but succeed after deletion of browser cookies

    Hello,

we are using VBulletin 5.3.2 and we get a lot of complaints from users who cannot log in. I found out that it helps to clear the browser cookies but the problem is only solved temporarily. After some time user may have to delete the cookies again. This is very annoying. Any suggestions what the problem might be?

    Hello

You say you are using 5.3.2 but your site is displaying 5.3.1.

In the first instance please carry out a full upgrade to 5.3.3. BACK UP YOUR DATABASE FIRST!

    1. Download the full 5.3.3 package from the members area
    2. Upload ALL the files, taking care to overwrite what is already there
    3. Run /core/install/upgrade.php
    4. Delete the /core/install folder
    5. Clear browser cache, and also browser cookies for your site, then restart your browser

Whilst doing this make sure that the cookie prefix setting is the same in both the config files (one is in the root, the other is in /core/includes).

The issue is most likely this bug: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-17729

While the JIRA says it affects 5.3.3, that is merely the version it was discovered in and it probably goes back a few versions. It should be fixed in 5.3.4

I think this one did the trick

Whilst doing this make sure that the cookie prefix setting is the same in both the config files (one is in the root, the other is in /core/includes).

The cookieprefix was set to 'bb' in one file and to '' in the other. I wonder why though.

Someone has changed it. The files ship with 'bb' set for both values.
