Added joinable usergroup. Cannot see option to join in "user CP".

I'm trying to have a system where slightly more mature topics can be viewed by those who want to view them whilst protecting those who don't from seeing such topics on "latest threads" etc on the forum index.

"Allow Users to have Member Groups" is checked, I've created the usergroup to join but I see no option to join it anywhere in User Settings.

(Hopefully this is a really easy one and I'm missing something simple...)

Public joinable usergroups are not currently a feature of vBulletin 5, sorry.
The option is a carry-over from vB4 and will be removed in a future version.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up. That frees me up to consider another solution. I don't suppose that includes the removing of secondary usergroups altogether?

Secondary usergroups still exist and should still work.

Great.... instead of adding more options, just delete the few things we have.

          Why do you do that?

Are you kidding me? Without that functionality, the forums are worthless to our community. Use should not take something that is a major element of the system. You state the secondary usergroups exist and still work. Not if they cannot join it.

Secondary user groups can be set by the administrator so yes they do still work.
It is public joinable usergroups that were removed in vBulletin 5.

If it's important to you vote for it. This is how things are done.

With our community that is not a valuable option as with have thousands that go back and forth between the usergroups. I posted my comment on the tracker that Omnibus post as to why. The usergroups are used to track our clan members and the areas that they have access to. Without it, this software no longer is viable. If I would have know that I would not have bought vb5 nor upgraded.

So that will bring to another point. Do you have a way to revert back to vb4 and refund? Otherwise, I will look for other options.

There is no supported way to downgrade to vB4 other than restoring your database and file backups from pre-upgrade.

Refunds are not normally available after the software has been downloaded due to vBulletin being 'visible source' meaning there is no way to 'return' the software.

If you need similar functionality today, you should look at Social Group channels. These allow groups to be created by the end users and then the owners can invite others or allow them to be publicly joinable.

I saw this and it looks like it is in the Dev Queue to be brought back for public joinable usergroups. Also added myself for notification. Just waiting of it to come out.
