Shortening Preview Text

I would like to shorten our preview recent post sidebar text on the right hand side of the main forum page to three lines. It was only one line before which was much too short. The system either allows one line or 5-6 lines by default. I'm looking to see if we can set it to something in between.

The search module offers three options: Default, Topic, and Compact. I will say it is less about lines and more about characters. You can try adjusting the preview length in the AdminCP under Settings -> Options -> Topic Display Options. The default is 200 characters. This is a global setting and will be used where ever preview text is shown in the system.

I changed it from 200 to 100 and it had no effect.
