Newer vb5 versions and posted uploaded images

I'm not sure in which version this "update" was implemented, but when I post pics now at my 5.3.0 forum, they have a number next to them that I believe indicates how many pics that member has posted, and the general appearance of the pics, ability to click on them and make them appear on their own page, etc., is different.

At the same time, all pics already posted in posts (past images uploaded) remain without these new features - are not updated. As well, that number next to the photo doesn't include past images posted by the same member. Or does the number just mean "1 photo posted" and not the total number of photos ever posted by the member?

Could someone who is familiar with this please explain to me what is new, and how it all works?

    Pic uploaded below. :-)

That means the number of photos attached in that particular post not the number of photos the user has ever posted. That feature has been there since 5.0.

Thanks. We've had lots of pics posted at my forum in various vb5 versions, and it was not happening until much more recently than 5.0

      Take a look at
      https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...58#post4359758
that image was posted by me on November 20, 2016, here, and it does not include these new features (the number of photos, and the slightly different way that the image opens when clicked). That would have been vb 5.2.5 so these new features must have come in after that.

The image above was posted using the Camera Icon (top right of the editor) which creates a Photo Gallery Topic. It is designed to allow the quick upload of multiple images for an Album or Gallery that can be viewed in a lightbox. Each image can have its own description text as well.

If you just want to insert an image in a standard Text topic then click the paperclip icon on the top left of the editor. It will allow you to attach an image at the bottom of the topic and/or insert it within the topic where you want. You can do the same with the Insert Image button on the rich text toolbar seen when clicking the A button on the top left of the editor. One of these methods were used when inserting the image in your second example.

Both of these methods have been in the software since 5.0.0 and serve different purposes when creating content.

You can even use a photo gallery and attachments in the same post if you want.

I am here, just clicking the camera icon on the left. That's it.
