ok bluehost is my host...since I dont have a VPS account, the Apache is used by multiple accounts and it could effect other peopler accounts, so they couldnt do that for me. Checked again that im at 5.6php which is yes I downloaded the 5.2.5 zip again and uploaded it again(in case there was a corrupt file or something) still no success) any other ideas?Comment

If they've upgraded php and not restarted Apache, then that is most likely the cause of the problem. Them saying they won't restart doesn't change that - they need to restart it.
Shared hosts run into this pretty often and just saying 'No' is not a satisfactory answer.MARK.B

They shouldn't be refusing. They have (presumably) upgraded php for you, they ought to know that an Apache restart is required once this is complete.
You can try this file also....unzip it and upload the php file to your forum folder, then load it in the browser, put in your database credentials (they will be in core/includes/config.php) and tell me what version of php it reports.Attached FilesMARK.B

If phpinfo is reporting 5.6 in the forum directory, wouldn't that indicate that the web server is executing ver 5.6? I looked at this for Osras, and while I agree that the web server should be restarted, after looking at the php.ini in the forum directory, it is listing ver 5.6 as the executable and phpinfo is reporting it. It's the first time I've ever seen anything like this happen.

I just took this screenshot from Osras's admincp after he reuploaded the 5.2.1 files to get the site working again.....somewhat. Can't login in the frontend for some reason, but the admincp is reporting 5.6.27 as the php version.

Just found this. I was curious because I have never had to restart apache on the server nor is it an option in the cpanel with Siteground. I take it that all php versions running on the server allows for quick change without restarting just by using htaccess.
This is from bluehost which allows for this option. It looks like it does require the htaccess line if that option is selected.
" PHP Single php.ini
To avoid copying the same php.ini file to each and every directory containing php files, you may select PHP Single php.ini. This option changes the php handler defined in ~/public_html/.htaccess to indicate that all subfolders use the same php.ini found in public_html/.
Note: The .htaccess php handler is recursive through all subdirectories unless a subdirectory has a .htaccess file also defining a php handler."

by AP-Sentry-ACHello Support Team,
I want to upgrade from 5.0.4 to 5.1.0 but I don't know if this is possible in one step. So I have two questions now. Can I go directly to 5.1.0 or do I have to...-
