Check this line in your /core/includes/config.php:

    PHP Code:
    $config['MasterServer']['port'] = 3306

If it doesn't have a port number, you will get that error. The default is 3306 which will work for most servers.

I cant get into the config.php file..
here is what happened...I went to the website like usual (www.osras.org) it kept timing out. I was at 5.2.1 at that time. I thought the time out problem was because I hadnt upgraded to 5.2.5. I downloaded and unzipped 5.2.5 I uploaded the files, it came back that my php was 5.4 and had to be 5.5 go to my host to raise the php. The host raised it to 5.6 then I used the upgrade script and got the error I put up before. I called the host and they said I need a developer to fix the problem. now I cant even connect with the server to open the config file what do i do?

The file will be on your server - if you can't connect to the server via ftp, then you need to speak to your host. There's nothing vBulletin can do really.

If you use a brand new config.php, you need to edit it fully with all the database details.
You are best off using your old config file and just editing the port number in.

You don't edit them live on the server - you'll need to download a copy of your existing config file, edit it locally, then put it back up.

And what is the exact error you are now getting? The original one about the port, or the one regarding Access Denied?

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.
