    Root Or Sub-Directory

    Hi Guys and Girls

Long time since I have used VB so bare with me here please. I'm looking to install VB5 Connect but do I install into the root or a sub-dir as in /forum ?

In my days of VB4 I used to install in a sub-dir and use vBAdvanced as my HOMEPAGE, now with the new VB5 Connect I'm unsure. If I install to a sub-dir can I create a homepage in the root using VB5? Silly question I guess but not seen how VB5 works as yet as iv not installed it.

It all depends on how you have your site mapped out and what additional software, if any, that you're going to use.

However, if you install in a sub-directory, you cannot create a page located in the root without server trickery. If all you're going to use is vBulletin, you should install it in the root of the site.

You can create custom pages in vB5 using the Site Builder Tools. You can set one of these pages up as the Home Page instead of the Forum page.
