  • Embedded Videos - Thumbnail is Blank Screen

Videos embedded on my site work fine but always show like this:

Name:	1.png
Views:	16
Size:	2.7 KB
ID:	4358010

However, I've noticed that videos posted here display just fine:

Here is an example page on my site:

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Put the site into debug mode, then go to the admincp, and under 'rebui'd there will be an option, 'Rebuild Video Thumbnails". Run that. Than clear system cache.

    Debug mode instructions:

Thank you for your reply Mark. I tried that, but there actually was no Rebuild Video Thumbnails option. There was a Rebuild Video BB Codes option, which I ran, but that did not solve the issue.

      Any other ideas?

Mark.B Is Rebuild Video BB Codes what you meant by Rebuild Video Thumbnails, or am I missing the option that I need to fix this issue? Any other ideas?

Does anyone else have this issue? Has anyone had it and then fixed it? Does anyone else have an idea?

The only time I have run into similar issues is when posting newly uploaded youtube videos that haven't yet time to capture the thumbnail preview. Curious whether there is any difference between using a long string url and short url from Youtube on Vbulletin?

I use an auto embed mod for Vbulletin and haven't the problems you have with the exception of sometimes fresh youtube uploads.

I saw this in earlier versions of vB5 but only on certain forum set ups.

There isn't, as far as I know, any known solution to it.

Have they always done this while you have been on vB5t, or is it only since an upgrade?

Both long and short do the same thing.

Which auto embed mod are you using?

As far as I remember, it's always done this.

The short answer is, we don't know what is causing it. As I mentioned, it was a known issue on some earlier versions of vB5, but only on certain setups. I haven't seen it reported for a long time, because a change was put in place in the software.

If you've done the rebuild video bbcodes and it's a default style with no edited templates, I'm at a loss to suggest much more at this level.

If you send us a support ticket with admincp and ftp access, we can have a look at your setup and see if we can find out what's doing it.
