5.2.3 Articles Very Slow to Open Initially

    Hello,

This may be a hard issue to track down, because it is intermittent. It seems that the very first time I try to open an article the site is very slow. Then it speeds up if the article is later reopened. I didn't have this problem until transitioning from 5.2.2 to 5.2.3. Of course, I made some other changes to complicate the issue.....

Could someone visit my site and visit the top menu items for rules or beliefs? They are located in the main menu. My site's url is https://www.christforums.org

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Enjoy,
    William

I found both the rules and beliefs links opened almost instantly...certainly nothing that would make me think it was slow.

Could be worth clearing browser cookies and cache and restarting the browser. It's possible you have cached templates that have been changed since the upgrade...that sort of thing can affect this.

This could be the ajax issue where you seem to need to click on something more than once, its a bug that came to light on vb.com, and is fixed in 5.2.4.

Specifically, http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-16342 there is a workaround listed in the JIRA.

Bare with as I am not certain on what to do for a workaround.

          1) create new phrase:

          Then what?

          Phrase Type:
          Product:
          Varname:
          Text:

I think you need to create a phrase variable name "working" with text "Working..." or whatever text you want . For the other fields it doesn't matter but you could choose vBulletin as product and Global as phrase type

I would say though that I don't think that bug would affect the links mentioned in the first post. The bug affects topic titles in a topic list (eg Today's Posts, or a forum list of threads), it's related to the hover preview. The links in this case are navbar links that just happen to point to specific topics. Therefore no hover preview is in use.

No bad idea to put the phrase in though, as it will improve things on the site generally.

So far so good, this seems to have resolved the issue!
