.htaccess edit (non www to www.) resulted in no admin control panel access :(

I've edited my .htaccess merely to force http://mysite.com/xyz to http://www.mysite.com/xyz which is fine. However, I can no longer access the ACP. Although it isn't a bad password/username the prompt keeps returning as it were a bad username/pw combination.

Any ideas outside of removing the .htaccess edit - which, incidentally has been done to keep google happy.

Just a thought, but presumably the AdminCP has the www in the URL settings?

Do you have a server control panel such as Plesk or cPanel? You can often do it in there, depending on whether the host has enabled it or not.

Alternatively, ask your host to redirect non-www to www from their end.

Trying to edit the vBulletin .htaccess file for this is tricky, and can lead to the issues you've described.

Thanks for the advice, Mark.B. I've since used a 3rd browser and managed to log in without issue. I haven't as yet cleared the cache from my usual browser, but that's my next step... I'll definitely have a word with the hosts regarding the changes via Plesk if it's possible. Thanks again
