    I would get yourself onto php 5.6 and then upgrade vBulletin to 5.2.4, in the first instance.

      PHP 5.4.X should be considered insecure as it has been end of life for a while. The current minimum version is PHP 5.5.0. However, I would recommend PHP 5.6 or PHP 7. Both are much faster and provide better performance than PHP 5.4. An order of magnitude more performance.
