Wayne Luke I just added the permission "Can View Channels" to my guests and the password reset link works as expected. Makes sense since guests didn't have access to anything before. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

I have a similar issue i believe. I have a private site which requires authentication to view the forums.
Unauthenticated members can view "lostpw". However the password reset link "reset-password" is not accessible to unauthorized members.
So it's not possible to reset passwords.
Enabling "Can view channels" fixes it, however it's not an option for me as it allows guests to partially view the site.
Running 5.2.1 php7.05

Remove Guest permissions from individual channel categories under Forum as a workaround for now.Translations provided by Google.

This is a huge issue for my site as well. I also can't enable "Can view channels" on my private site for the "Unregistered / Not Logged In" Usergroup.
The Unregistered / Not Logged In users can now see now see things like the "Whats Going On" and "Forum Statistics" modules. They could also guess Page URLs and see everything on them. How can I lock down these page elements from being visible to unregistered visitors?

Admin CP > Channel Management > Channel Permissions?
You cannot provide permissions for Modules or Pages.
These JIRAs need more votes to get permissions for Modules and Pages implemented. I think they should have been implemented from the start.
