After i ran the upgrade script i am now getting a database error when i try to login to the admincp.

It is not descript as to what the error is.

I can login to normally as a user but not as admin.

I ran the tools.php cookie fixes already but didnt work.

Make sure in your /core/includes/config.php file you have your correct email address in it to receive database error emails, then post the full error (remove exact URLs) so we can see what it is.

Did you remove your VB4 files before uploading VB5? VB5 can't be uploaded over VB4, it has to be uploaded to a clear directory.

yea I assume there was vb4 plugins left within the forums when he upgraded, or did not upload the files to a new folder and there is vb4 files causing a conflict. If its a plugin from vb4 try to use the define for turning all plugins off in the config.php file.

We will need to know what the FULL database error is...should be in the server logs.

VB4 Products and Plugins will be automatically disabled during the upgrade process, they are not necessary to be removed during the upgrade, however the software must be uploaded into an empty folder before the upgrade script is run.
