I thought the same thing so I downloaded 5.1.9 PL3 and uploaded the files. When I ran the upgrade script it gave me the same server 500 error. What could be causing this? I eventually copied all files except the config.php from another forum and was able to get running again. It looks like I'm stuck with 5.1.5. Any other suggestions?Comment

We would also need to know the actual error...500 is just a generic server error, the actual error will be in the server logs (ask your host if unsure);MARK.B

Your PHP needs to be at least 5.4.0. That's the minimum PHP version required starting vB 5.1.7. I think having PHP 5.3 causes the 500 error. There must be some PHP 5.4+ functions that were added in 5.1.5 patch files. This is a mistake on vB's part. But regardless, it is recommended to upgrade your PHP.Last edited by glennrocksvb; Fri 27 Nov '15, 4:50pm.Comment
