The instructions are current as of April 4, 2016.

This post can also be accessed from the shorted URL: www.vbulletin.com/go/fbconnect

You must first have your own personal Facebook account and be logged into it.

These are the same instructions for VB4, VB5. and VB Cloud. Note- You must be running VB 4.2.3 or higher or VB 5.1.10 or higher for FB Connect to work.

    1. Go to the Facebook Developer's Page at: https://developers.facebook.com

Note: If you've never created a FB App before you will need to register as a developer. Facebook will need to verify some information with you. Follow the instructions they give you.

    11. You will get a prompt confirming you want to do this. Click Confirm. You should see a green circle next to your app name confirming it is live. It will take several minutes to be completely public across all Facebook's servers. Do not submit your app for Approval. It is not necessary for this type of app and Facebook won't approve it.

    12. Now go to your Admin CP -> Settings -> Options -> Facebook Options. Paste in the App ID and App Secret you saved earlier on into the appropriate boxes.

    13. Go through the rest of the Facebook settings making any changes you want. Note- Not all features are supported yet on VB5. Save Changes when done.

At this point you are done. Give it a few minutes then try connecting with Facebook. As the App Owner you may see a notice when first connecting to Facebook asking you to submit the App for Approval. Do not do this. It is not for this type of app. Anyone else who is not you will not see that message, it will work as normal for them.

Please note due to a bug in VB 5.1.10 and 5.2.0 the Registration with Facebook feature is currently broken. To fix the issue download and unzip the file attached to this post.

Upload the facebook.js file to your server. Overwrite the existing facebook.js file in your forum root /js/ directory.

This will fix the issue, users who attempt to register with Facebook will again be redirected to your registration page after replacing the file.

This updated file should be included by default in an upcoming version of the software.

Note- The minimum VB5 version should be the mos recent VB5 version or up to released back. We do not support VB5 versions greater than 3 versions behind the most current release.
