    VB Search working?

    Hi,

lot of users are reporting that they think VB Search is not working since we migrate from VB3 to VB5. VB Search dont find all Posts or Threats. Newer posts are not found by search and so on .

I rebuild searchindex a lot of times in cpadmin maintenance.

Is VB Search not working? Or do i have wrong parameters?

The search should work. A lot of functionality is actually based on search. Need more information on what you think are the wrong parameters

      Well,

for example word with german umlauts üöä ÜÖÄ are not found. If i search "Türöffner" (dooropener) i get 0 searchresults.

If i make a SQL Request "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM text WHERE rawtext LIKE '%Türöffner%'" i get 911 rows, so Result never can be 0!

      some more information:

the URL für that search is "search?q=Türöffner&searchJSON={"keywords"%3A"Türöffner"}"

If i search for "N152" i get 5 Results. In MySQL i get 12 Results. And so on....

This is more than a feeling that - search is not finding all topics... and users are reporting that

You could be running afoul of this issue: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-1333 Though that is primarily for languages of higher order in the font.

Well some other strange behaviour and i can reproduce and has nothing to do with language.

I looked for an older thread (2009) and in there for a unique word. Found a thread with the word "Noooon".

Searching for the word "Noooon" has 0 results.

So i went to that threat and edit it, adding some text "....." .

After saving i did the search again - and i get 1 result .....

            Investigating some more.

You must edit the first (not the second or ....) post of a threat. After that these thread will be found with a specific word of that thread. I can reproduce that.

So what is the difference between an old thrad and an old thread with an edited first post ?

That is different. Yes, please open an issue with steps to recreate.

Search is NOT broken, as you can see on this site.

This thread is over two years old. Make sure you are running the latest version (5.3.4), and if you are still having issues after rebuilding the search index, please start your own thread with full details of the exact problem, including steps to reproduce the issue. As a general guide, you will need to answer all the questions in THIS post so that we can assist.
