How would I put image on front page of CMS and enable users to download a PDF

We use the CMS as our homepage; allowed attachment types for the CMS are image files, not PDF files.

I would like to put an image on the homepage [CMS] saying 'click to download' but have the users download a PDF attachment. What's my best way of doing this?

Either an HTML or Ad Module. Just link to the PDF.

Or add PDF to the allowed attachments.

PDF are already set as allowed attachments in the attachment manager. As far as I can see though, in the CMS the only attachments permitted are picture-format attachments. There is nothing I can see in vBulletin options, settings, content management to allow me to change allowed attachments. Have I missed something somewhere?

Check your channel permissions and make sure they are allowed. Articles (all of vB5 is a CMS) have the same capabilities as a forum topic.
