User groups created in admincp are not visible to users

I have created several usergroups in the admincp and cannot get vb 5.1.4 to show one of them to my users.

This is how it looks to my users:

Also strange, it does not allow me to add a Group Leader, even though I get the dialog and vb tells me "Successfully saved".

And last, when I sent out an email to a specific usergroup, all my registered users will get the email.

It looks like my usergroups are corrupted ...?!

Usergroups are different from Groups. The groups you see in the front end are called Social Groups and have nothing to do with Usergroups in the back end. Usergroups determine what permissions a user has.

Social Groups are kind of like forums your users can create themselves.

        I know that.
But public groups are not displayed in the user controll center or in the front end.

Even though in the back, I can not enter a group leader . I get the dialog and vb tells me "Successfully saved".

Ahh, well that is a different issue then the original poster reported.

In your case this is a know issue - http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-6358 - No interface to join public usergroups has been added yet. Please vote for the issue to help get it attended to faster.

          Sorry for the inconvenience.
