Our laundry list of issues... comments welcome!

We are very pleased with VB5 so far, minutes a few issues and gotchas.. here is what we are experiencing with our users:

    • IE7 & IE8 users are reporting IE crashing on random thread pages and on photo uploads - four distinct users have reported this.
    • Some threads randomly return blank pages instead of the thread. Confirmed this to occur on IE, Chrome and Firefox.
    • Users looking for the add-image icon in the wysiwyg editor (confirmed to be fixed in next beta)
    • WYSIWYG seems sparse compared to previous versions
    • Pagination not working on threads properly (reported and bug opened)
    • No pagination at the bottom of threads, lacking "next page" & previous page buttons.. Terrible design.
    • No "New Posts" link like vb3 and vb4 (users are very disappointed in not having this)
    • Emails sent from subscriptions do not contain full text of post; truncated after a certain # of characters
    • Clicking on a link in a "Reply to xxxx" thread email brings you to the first post of a thread and not the specific post like in vb3 and 4; looks like link is missing the #XXXX post number in the link
    • Latest Activity view so far is not customizable enough; would like to be able to just display thread titles so we could replicate New Posts
    • Latest Activity view lacks "since last login" option for information to display - only allows for "all time, today, yesterday, etc..."
    • Sitemap creates sitemap files properly, but links in main sitemap file point to /core/sitemap? instead of actual files the generator created.
    • URLs posted in threads do not get changed to the title name of the page after posting; they stay as raw HTML links w/the URL in the <a> tags.
    • AJAX edit of post titles in forum view is gone

Overall very impressed, and we do recognize this is a beta. However we are a little stumped that successful options that made vb3 and vb4 so successful are strangely absent. It seems there is more focus being put on the new stream/latest activity view; which personally I find cluttered and very hard to follow.. Its great to create new options and features, but some core features of past success should be retained, as well as allowing for some legacy views to shine through. The new features of VB5 don't outweigh the loss of functionality in our book so far. While this new site is VB5, our other sites that are on VB3 will remain there until we are confident we can replicate current user patterns and behaviors with vb5.

Thanks for any comments above and the dedication to bringing out this new version!

Just to address the first issue - Please be aware that IE7 is not supported - your users will need to upgrade their browsers to at least IE8, and preferably IE9.
No IE7 issues will be fixed in any version of vBulletin now.

If the issues are not currently in the jira system, as improvement requests, bugs, or issues, we won't be able to offer much official response. only once their logged into the system can we start working on them.

Some threads randomly return blank pages instead of the thread. Confirmed this to occur on IE and Chrome, does not affect firefox. Try this thread here: http://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/...-site-security
I have issues viewing that page on Firefox 18.0

Ok so should I log all these in Jira then?

Yes, search for each issue, if you cannot find it in the bug tracker, please report it. Also include as much information about each issue as possible.
