I believe this to be the last of the irritating white left on my site and I can not seem to get rid of it anyone managed to get rid of it on theirs...

...I found that it's the 'form_field_background' stylevar that controls the Quick Reply box. For the main forms, they're actually controlled within the css_editor.css' body CSS class - I don't see a way to override this at the moment so you may want to update that template although you should note that this may be overriden in upgrades. I'd also suggest raising a Bug for this as Beta 26 and 27 will have a lot of stylevar changes happening so it could make it into those -

that really makes me a little edgy with updating from 24 as I have completely altered my style and several of ,...no most of the style vars have been altered to work with my transparency style so I may just wait. My site is running well except for a couple of small things and I can live with them.Comment

There's a number of stylevars that are in the system that shouldn't be, not in the system that should be and in the system but not being used correctly. To make things easier to style, a major piece of work has been done to try and address this en masse in the next release (with some follow up in B27).
As we recommend to all customers when upgrading a live site - test it first on a copy, dont just take the plunge with a major update on a live site.Comment

I have 25 running with my customized style, the only way I could get it to install was to start with a clean directory and I imported my data base and put the 25 files in the new directory and then ran upgrade and it took with no issues I tried to upgrade over 24 but it crashed on step 2 at 39 % but no big deal I am lucky to have several URL's all dedicated to the same site I think I am going to wait for the Gold release before I try to upgrade again.. and see what happens then...Comment

I managed to remove most of the white too but like you I am stuck with this one. And also, like yourself I will wait for Gold, it is just too much for me to keep up with all the editing and upgrading.
I think I have reached a design/stage that I am happy with.
My next step is to look into editing the templates themselves, that I think will prove a bit of a challenge as I have no idea where to begin but as ever, I will find a way.Comment

I want to reset everything and start from scratch (default values).
I made some changes that won't go away.
Using the new edit feature on the page seems to screw up everything...
