Editing the Welcome Email Sent to Moderated New Users

Note: If you require emails to be verified, this email will be sent after the user has activated his or her account. If you moderate new memberships, no welcome mail will be sent as the user will already be receiving an email.
How do I edit the welcome email sent to new members of my site after I approve their registration. The email that is currently being sent is generic with all kinds of gaps in it, and the email I was able to edit in the admincp is not the email that is being sent to new members.

Admin CP -> Languages and Phrases -> Search In Phrases

In the Search For... box enter: activateaccount_gemailbody

Set the Search In... option to Phrase Variable Name Only.

    Search. Should return one phrase.

Enter your changes in the "Translation" box and save. If you want a copy of the default to edit, click the "Copy Default Text" button first. Save when done.

Ok, but I don't want to edit the activate account email. I want to edit the email that is sent to new members once I approve their registration. How do I find that one?

I figured it out. I took your previous directions:

Admin CP -> Languages and Phrases -> Search In Phrases

In the Search For... box enter: activateaccount_gemailbody

Set the Search In... option to Phrase Variable Name Only.

      Search. Should return one phrase.
but searched only for gemailbody and found the email I was looking for in the list. Thank you.

I edited the email text as below and now I have a new problem.

When the user gets the email, the {2} isn't replaced with their username. It did work before I edited the email, but not anymore. I tried swapping it with {1} and $username, but they didn't work either.

Also, how do I edit the subject lines for these emails as well?

Did you copy the mail text into the translation box or edit over the top of it?

The Subject lines can be found in the 'Email Subject Text' phrase group (from the dropdown) or by doing the same search as before.

I clicked the "Copy Default Text" button and then edited on top of it.

            Try this:

Revert your edit by emptying the translation box and saving it. Then test and verify the email sends correctly.
if it does, try reapplying your edits carefully and test again.

When I reverted the email back to its default text, the username appeared again. Then I re-did my edits, making sure not to touch the lines with the {2} variables at all, and again the email did not replace the {2}s with the username. This may help too. Here's how the email shows up in my email its original form:

              All the best,
So despite the fact that the username appears, none of the other variables are filled in correctly. The edited email is much better except that the username is messed up. What do you suggest?

If you've done as I suggested and it's still failing, as this is vB5 and it's in beta I would strongly suggest logging this as a bug in the tracker:

Please provide as many details as possible and then it can be investigated.
