    BBCode Permissions

How do you set permissions on bbcode? I want to have some bb code that only certain usergroups can use. How do I do this in vBulletin 5 connect?

You can't set permissions on individual custom BBCodes in vBulletin.

Any suggests on how to do it anyway? Hooks? Custom code? Editing core files?

That's something you'd need to ask on vbulletin.org, the modification and customisation site.
We can't provide support for custom code on here, sorry.

That would be something you would have to have coded to be done, if it is even possible in vB5.

Sure, but I am willing to bet, this can not be achieved by simply creating a mod, I would have to think you would need to edit core files to do so.

Oh yes I'm quite sure you'd need to edit core files...but it's still "possible" with the right skills.....

Ya, I can obviously do this by editing the core files.

I realize support can help me write such code. But could I at least get answer to where certain specific question about the core files? For example: What files output the template files, or header , or footer, ect?

The support team are not the developers of the product, so we're unable to advise on which files to edit. Even if we think we know, if we get something wrong it could mess up your site. We are not coders or programmers.

Software where support can be provided for customisations costs many thousands of dollars, because the support staff need to be qualified experienced programmers who are also well versed in the coding intricacies of the product, to the extent that the software vendor is able to warrant against bad code, bad advice, security issues, etc. This sort of thing, frankly, costs a fortune.

vBulletin is a low-cost solution and the official support is generally limited to the default product, and a bit of css help occasionally.

vbulletin.org can provide unofficial help with customisations.
