    Style Manager Problems

I'm trying to make a copy of the default Red theme with a different name so I can make changes and tests without effecting the original theme. But I am not able to do this.

I went to Style Manager in the admincp. I went to Download / Upload Style. I selected "-- Red". I gave it a new title and new file name. I selected "Get customizations made in this style and all parent styles. I then downloaded it.

Next, I proceeded to upload the copy. I selected the file, left merge into style as (Create New Style), ignored style version to "No", left title blank, No Parent Style, display order 1 and hit Import.

Every time I do that I get the follow message on the next screen: "To overwrite the existing theme, please re-upload the XML file and continue." I'm not sure why it thinks I'm trying to overwrite something or what I'm overwriting. Anyway, I select the same xml file again and selected continue. Then nothing. There is no new style with the new name.

How can I simply make a copy of one of the current themes?

Just create a child of the red theme that sits directly under it.
You can do this by selecting "Add Child Style" from the dropdown on the right of the red style, in the style manager.

Okay, that will work for testing. But I want to end up with a separate copy and remove all of the other themes from the user selection.

No matter what I do, I can never uncheck the Red theme now. Even if I have some other theme (like Blue Green or Pink) checked. Even when I go into it and set it as Allow User Selection = to "no"... it's always yes when I go back into it. I really would just like to make a separate copy (not a child) and then unselect all of the default themes but my own. Is there anyway to do this? I really don't see why this is so difficult. The menus just don't work.

You can leave it as a child, if you can get all the others set to "No" and then set "Allow users to change styles" to "No".

As for why you cannot seem to set the others to "No" - I have occasionally run into this.
Do you have css stored as files?
If so...set it back to "inline"...then go and disable your styles. You should find it'll work now.
Then, set css back to files again.
