Different page content

When editing a page it seems the content carries over, is there any way to stop this?

i.e.
I want my Homepage to display something different to my Forums page.

However when i select the forums page to show the activity stream that carries over to the homepage.

Also when i set to assign a homepage it says "Not yet implemented" i'm not sure if that is intentional or what.

You need to assign a custom template to those pages that you want to be different. When you save and it asks if you want to override the template, say No. You'll be prompted for the name of the new template.
