I would think you'd be able to change to look like 4.2 if you wanted? The forums don't have the distinct block like layout anymore.

Each major version generally has a different look and feel to the previous version.

Many people said 4.x looked old fashioned. I happen to disagree but that was the popular view.

So 5 has a fresh, new style that is in keeping with modern styling concepts.

I highly doubt that there will be an option to fall back on the vB 4 look in the vB 5 release.

Personally I also like the vB 4 look, however new design often goes together with new usability concepts. At some points the current vB 5 demo gives a good idea on what is about to change. I can't yet say if I will like it in the end, but it is definetly worth testing it out. Let's see how vB 5 will develop.

There will be no option to make vB5 look like vB4, just as there was no option to make vB4 look like vB3.

You might find someone writes a third party style to emulate the basic look, but it's never going to be exact because the two versions are completely different with different layouts and features.

Many people, when they say they want a new version to "look like" the old, actually don't mean just the style but the whole way the software functions as well - and that definitely isn't happening!
