From: email address when Activation membership email is sent

    From: email address when Activation membership email is sent

    Hello,

    VBulletin 5.1.3
    Site is not live, just testing so far.


    The from email address that the system uses are words from the title of the site:
    The site title: Fringe Talk Conspiracy, Ufo and Alien The from address looks like this: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], Ufo and Alien <[email protected]>
    When I run a test mail from CP Admin > Maintenance > Diagnostics the from address is correct.

    From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]>

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      Hello,

      When a user registers and receives the activation email it contains 4 from addresses.

      Here is section of the mail header:
      When I got this message in my gmail, it got marked as spam immediately.

      I configured vBulletin to use my gmail account to relay the message and that worked.
      (I have no intention of using gmail as a permanent solution, this was just to try something.)

      The hosting is with hostgator, I have contacted them but are having some problems getting responses.

      I was just hoping that someone had a similar experience but found a solution.

      If they do not respond to me soon, I will have to just look for other hosting.

        It sounds like the php mail settings for your server are incorrectly configured. I'd get with your host or setup a proper SMTP account for vBulletin to use.

          I just tried to use the local SMTP server, when I did the test from the diagnostics it was okay but when I did a registration the mail was the same again.
          At this point I could see two options, try to reinstall and if it doesn't work find a new host.

          This is the second week I'm struggling with this.

            As I mentioned in the ticket, this is not a vBulletin issue.

            The domains being added to the from fields actually belong to the host...it's them that is adding them there.

            Re-installing is drastic and will not solve the problem.

            If the hosts cannot accept that their own domain being added to someone's From: field is THEIR responsibility, then find a better host.
