Search function is not working on my vBulletin 5.1.1 upgrade

    Hello,

I just upgraded my vBulletin 4.2.1 forum to vBulletin 5.1.1 and almost all of it is working fine.

However, everytime I try to do a search in the Search field of the home page, it sends me to the Advance Search page without any result. If I type any word that appears in different threads, it won't shom them in the results.

    Why does that happen?

    I'll appreciate some help.

    Thanks.

You'll need to rebuild the search index -
AdminCP > Maintenance > General Update Tools

I just did that, but it doesn't work.

It keeps showing me the Advance Search page with no result.

Your site still seems to be running vB4.

Huh? But why is that? I've installed vB5.1.1 in a separate folder and run the upgrade script from a database copy.

Maybe something is referencing to the other directory?

Depends if you have installed a test mirror or upgraded the live site.
The search rebuild also has to run, unless it's a really small site with not many posts, it won't complete instantly, it takes a while.

I closed the live site (maintenance mode), made a database copy and install vBulletin 5.1.1 from that database copy.

              The site is big: Threads - 73,002 | Posts - 1,162,614 | Members - 111,433

So, I still don't know why it will still be running vB4.

What is the link to this test upgrade site? And, if you have that many posts, it will not just take a couple of minutes to Rebuild the Search Index. I would guess it would take a few hours (depending on your server capabilities).

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

It is a test enviroment and you only can access it with login credentials (it is protected). I can send you the login info in a PM.

Well, when I click Rebuild Whole Search Index link, it ask for Deletion Confirmation and starts the process, that only takes like 5 seconds.

Try rebuilding the search index via command line. http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/u...rsion=50100500
