    Our forum is slow

    Hi ,

    I installed forum (release 5.1.0) on AWS EC2 (m1.medium ) virtual server (
    3.75 GB RAM , 1 x vCPU , 2 x ECUs) , CPU utilization 6% in average , 30 % on peaks

    Forum is slow.

Need to wait 5-8 secs till screen refresh , if I change some configurations in Admin panel I need to wait even more .....

Any recommendations to speed up ?

I have been looking for the exact same and found some useful information googling, vbulletin speed up. http://imtips.co/optimize-vbulletin.html What I found is that your hosts is the most important part. IF they fail (and believe me, many do so) to setup your server / hosting plan up right your forum get's terrible slow. I'm working together with our host to speed up our forum, and it seems it's a difficult task. There is NO information (as I have found) on Speeding up Vbulletin 5 / connect - It would be really helpful if there was anything!

vB5 requires more server resources than vB3 and vB4 did.
In most cases when it's slow it's because the server isn't correctly set up, or simply isn't powerful enough.

Those on dedicated servers, or with root access, can request optimization via our Server Optimization forum.

I'm trying to trouble shoot some bottlenecks. I cannot tell if my server just isn't beefy enough or if VB5 is just naturally slow. At first I had apache+php+MySQL all running on one server. In an attempt...

Why is vb5 so much slower than 4.2.1 or even the 3.x versions? I have some seriously disgruntled users and I don't know what to tell them. Even here... this site is considerably slower than it used to...
