Subscribe error - Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page

    VB 5.05
When I click on a forum, I get this error when I click Subscribe. I am logged in as a super admin and it works. When I log in under administrator user or user it gives me the error
"Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page"

I have a free forum. No Paid Subcriptions

I am the admin of the forum.
I log in ad either as admin (not super admin) or a user
I go to any of my forums and click subscribe
      I get the error.
when I log in as a super admin, I get the function correctly.

My users have the same problem. As admin I don't have this problem. Does anyone have a solution for this?

A user reported a similar problem with the 'Like' function, which I could reproduce with a test account. I solved this by enabling 'can use reputation'.
My users are getting "Error Saving Like - Sorry, you are not authorized to view this page" error - what setting do I need to enable for my registered users to use this feature?

What right(s) must be enabled for a user to be able to subscribe?

I found the following issues in JIRA:

I think this is why no subscription is possible. The problem is that we have to wait for vBulletin 5.1.1 for this to be fixed

Neither of those actually prevent channel and topic subscriptions from working.

On the channels where there problem occurs, does the user in question have explicit permission to view the content of that channel. Please keep in mind that just because someone is an administrator or super administrator, it doesn't automatically grant them permissions to view the content.

Because of the post by Wayne Luke I started testing some more with the channel permissions, and it appears that you need the permission 'Can Join Channel' for Subscribe to work.

The issues I posted earlier may prevent you from receiving subscription e-mails, but at least you should be able to click the button without an error message.

If you want to change the name of this setting, you can go to 'Languages & phrases > Search for phrases', search for 'Can join channel' and enter 'Can Subscribe' as a translation.

I tried enabling "Can join channel" but I still receive the error. If I set the user as any of the moderators we have set up, it works fine. I've set all the same permissions as moderator yet I still get the error! Any other ideas?

Are you being sure to check the permissions under Channel Management > Channel Permissions if you have edited the usergroup there? Also, make sure to click Clear System Cache after you make any change.

You need to start your own thread with all the relevant information.

You can solve issue by admincp---channel permissions----can join channel : YES

for each group you want to have subscribe abilities.
