    Upgrade keeps failing when trying to upgrade 3.8.7 Patch Level 3 to 5.0.3

    I am doning a test upgrade, to figer out a new template en plugings and other modification's.

    But the upgrade keep failing

    With the errors:
    Action Required
    The server returned no response. This is probably due to a timeout setting. Please contact vBulletin Support for assistance
    retried it a few time from scratch (restored backup) with higher memory limit even memory limit -1.

    For testing upgrade webserver to 4 GB memory no luck so changed it back

    Step bye step what is did:

    0. make fullbackup files+db
    1. optime db
    2. Download vbul 5.0.3
    3. exctracted zip
    5. removed install.php
    6. renamed admincp and modcp
    7. moved site to webserver with php 5.3.10
    8. removed all files from webtree
    9. Uploaded the content of upload to webroot
    10. Went to upgrade url
    11. upgrade php mem limit 256Mb (note -1 didn't help either)
    12. filled in custumor number.
    13. touched ./config.php ./core/includes/config.php files
    This is becouse server didn't want to create those files.
    14. filled out configuration details and generated the config files.
    15. removed core/install/makeconfig.php
    16. whent a gain to https://www-beta.hccforums.nl/core/install/upgrade.php
    17. klik start upgrade
    After while i got this error:

    Webserver details:
    php version: 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.6
    1 procesor with 2 cores
    2 GB ram

    Database server 1:
    mysql version: 5.5.31-0ubuntu0.12.04.2
    1 procesor 4 cores
    4 gb ram


    Database server 2 (slave/backup):
    mysql version: 5.5.31-0ubuntu0.12.04.2
    1 procesor 4 cores
    4 gb ram
