Hello,
I've chosen vBulletin 5 Connect recently after going through phpBB and IPB, because I've no choice at this time. I don't want to give "the same" feedback again since several forum topics are already active and hot regarding it's status.
But I've to say this anyway:
vBulletin 4 - Windows XP
vBulletin 5 - Windows Vista
vBulletin 5.1 - Windows 7
vBulletin 6 - Windows 8..........
I'm jumping straight into the actual topic - I need some implementation suggestions at this time to start building my site. I hope I will get "some suggestions" from senior members / support staff - I don't mine if new members share their thoughts too...
1.) I've chosen a dedicated hosting server with 2GHz Xeon processor and 12GB of RAM. The server is running on Cent-OS 6.4 with latest version of cPanel WHM.
2.) Since CMS is not available in 5.0.0, I'm planning to consider "Joomla 3.1" for main website (NO front-end log-in for end-user via Joomla)
3.) Setup vBulletin 5 Connect in sub folder - say https://community.domain.com
Q 1.) I heard that CMS in vBulletin 5 Connect will comeback in future version of 5 series. If that happens (suppose to be), how difficult it would be to transfer all content (articles, categories etc., but no users) from Joomla to vBulletin 5 Connect?
Q 2.) How difficult it would be to develop similar template for both Joomla 3.1 and vBulletin 5? - I'm planning to use one of the template from "YOOtheme". Are there any recommended 3rd party developers/agencies on designing templates for vBulletin 5 Connect at this time?
Any comments / suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
