[Forum] Thread View Missing

We recently installed VB 5 Stable. Even though we have set the default view options in the admin CP to thread/hybrid, thread view does not display (it is always displays in linear view). Neither is there an option for the user to switch to thread view. Is it still possible to switch the default display mode in VB 5 to threaded? If so, does anyone have suggestions as to what to do to make threaded display mode work? It is essential that we get threaded view to work for our site, so any help would be appreciated.
