I upgraded from VB4 to 5... Everything went smooth. However, after installation, I got the following error while trying to access "admincp"

You don't have permission to access /forums/admincp/ on this server.

I'm also not getting your css loading;
Your admincp works with core in the url, which is not correct.

Try reuploading the .htaccess file from the package.
Also what do you have set as the $config['baseurl'] in forum/config.php?

Our hosting providers ask: What are the rewrites they (vbulletin) put into htaccess?

You have a copy of the file in your downloaded copy of vB (part of the upload directory). Send them the file so they can see for themselves, if necessary.

What Dan said would work, the rewrite rules are in the .htaccess file.

However if you are trying to install VB5 on the same server as the 4.x forum attached to your license then that server is running nginx, not apache, and VB5 is not yet compatible with nginx.

Reply from our hosting providers: Our hosting server is running NGINX as a reverse proxy in front of Apache. This means that all PHP is handled by Apache, and as long as VBulletin 5 is compatible with Apache it should work on your server when set up properly.

RewriteEngine on

Add the line

RewriteBase /forums/

Try again...

Do you have an .htaccess file in your website root directory? If so temporarily rename it to .htaccess2 or something and see if that allows you to access the admincp or not. Be sure to change it back after you're done testing.

This is some sort of server setup issue- it's not a vBulletin error because vBulletin isn't even being initialized if there is a 403 error. It has something to do with .htaccess and your web-server.

This is the reply we received from our hosting providers:

"We have asked several times for the Apache rewrites VBulletin needs implemented on the server. Once you send those over as an attachment we can get them implemented on the server for you for testing.



This will be the equivalent of overwriting the old htaccess file the the new file as requested by VBulletin. We need to make sure we are implementing the correct file & rewrites. If you can not provide those rewrites, you will need to contact VBulletin support for the correct rules to implement on your server. Apache based server ."

You should send them a copy of the contents of the .htaccess file that comes in the vBulletin download package.
