  • Unable to access SiteBuilder to Edit my New Style

    Hi,

I had created a new style layout using Edit Site option which seemed to work fine.

I just updated all of my web site to be a secure pages https://www.leisurebuildings.com/

This meant that all the links and images in my new style were still pointing to the non-secure page http://www.leisurebuildings.com/ and need to be amended to https://www.leisurebuildings.com/

However when I try to use SiteBuilder - I click on Edit Page or Header nothing happens.
I then went and reset the style to the default style - I am then able to edit the page etc.

I can only assume that something in my new style is stopping SiteBuilder working. The problem is I can't get to the new style to correct it.

Can anyone tell me where the styles are stored so I can access it through myPHPAdmin or directly on the server.
    Regards,
    Robin

Can we get a link to the actual forums? and allow us to see your custom style (the 'broken' one) and the default style (the 'working' one)?

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

      Hi,
Link to site is here which has my style (which appears to be broken - from the point of view of Site Builder ) https://www.leisurebuildings.com/help/
From that page you can select different styles (default, test etc)
      Thanks,
      Robin

I'm going to hazard a guess that you've broken it by editing the header.

You can try taking a copy of the header template (just copy it into notepad), then revert it.
See if that fixes site builder. If it does then that's your issue. What I then do is carefully copy the site builder bits out of the default template into the relevant place on the customised version, then paste it back in. Often a bit of trial and error.

        Nice style by the way.

          Hi Mark,

Will do that. I will remove sections of code piece by piece until I find the culprit. That what I normally have to do. Quite challenging but very rewarding when I find the problem.

Thanks for the comment about the style. This works on desktop, tablet and mobile. It took me ages to implement it into vBulletin.

          Regards,
          Robin

Try to fix the http/https mixed content error first. This causes a js error on the page that might have prevented other scripts to work.

Remove the http: part to fix this issue.
            Code:
            <script charset="UTF-8" src="http://www.leisurebuildings.com/acatalog/top-menu-forum/top-menu-forum-awm.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
            ...
            <script charset="UTF-8" src="http://www.leisurebuildings.com/acatalog/top-menu-mobile-forum-awm/top-menu-mobile-forum-awm.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
You may also use relative path (/acatalog/....) instead of absolute path

Thank you for that. I will work along those lines.

I've removed all the http:// and changed to https:// or use relative paths which all helps with the secure page.
I think the reason SiteBuilder is not working is that I've removed some code which enabled it to work. And thinking back I did not create my 'style' using SiteBuilder but using the template editor as it was very involved. So I realise I don't need to use Sitebuilder after all.

However I can't remember where the extra CSS styles should go. When I did the site in the first place I went back and forth but have not forgotten. Joys of getting old. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks.

When you say "extra CSS styles" - are you wondering where to add your custom CSS to your style? Most likely you added it to Style Manager > find style > Edit Templates > css_additional.css

Thanks Lynne I've found it now by searching as you suggested. It was frustrating not to be able to find it as I had used this before to add some extra css code.
