  • vBulletin 5 Modules...

vBulletin 5 has a variety of System and Admin modules in the system. As a user of vBulletin 5, you can use the Admin modules to customize your site and pages. My question here is...

If you could have any one module added to the system, what would it be?

This is a thought discussion. There is no guarantee that any specific module will be added but I am curious on what you would like to see.

And its only beta-version since years and they donīt develop their items for vb5 anymore. So they shouldnt be mentioned here...

To be honest with you, we will probably never add a shoutbox module. vBulletin Messenger is probably the closest we will get to a chat system.

Some sort of basic forum friendly game, like tic tac toe.

This isn't what the module system is designed for.

        I like this idea.
A field for name / description, and a box for the link itself.

For this I use the PHP module with the following simple line and a directory in my forum home for my custom pages.
          include("custompages/links.html");

Then in custompages I have the html code for the links in links.html. The advantage is that this single line is easy to replicate on many pages, and it can be updated on all pages just by updating the links.html file.

login form module - good for usage in the sidebar. After logged in display some links and stuff with big avatar like in profile page.

I'd like to see a moderation module that shows users and posts requiring moderation, that obviously would only be shown to moderators. This is the one thing we lost and our moderators miss from vbAdvanced when we upgraded to vb5.

Have a configurable/scalable "contact us" form, or the ability to have an adhoc form to illicit specific information from our members.

and, if you had asked for two things, the second would be a more robust media module like what xenforo has.

Have to be more specific. I have no idea what you're talking about here.

                  Sorry, I assumed and I shouldn't.

A more robust media center as seen here. https://xenforo.com/community/media/albums/

Not sure if its just pictures and/or video, or if other doc's can be used as well, but it is pretty neat..

We need module that sends messages directly to the staff at VB, so we can harass them day and night......
Maybe a webcam module that beams a live stream from Internet Brands so we can see what they're doing......

Ok, Ok.... i like the link library idea a lot.... that would be really valuable to me.

What is the difference between a link library and using a Forum that only allows the content type of Links? You can then use a standard search module to put those links on one or more pages.

If the links are only created by the Admin, then you could also hide the forum by setting its display order to 0.

Live Streaming module. Something that works like YouTube, Google Hangouts, Twitch, etc. where you can give a direct link to users who are invited to join the stream.

Video Hosting Module. A module for hosting videos directly uploaded to the public HTML folder.

The point of these is to keep site traffic on a website rather than having to redirect members to a YouTube or Google page for live streams and original video content.
