This is my VB4 Suite.

Every part of site has a different logo (forum, blogs, news, directory)

Based on default layouts - personalized by adding code to additional CSS.

Unfortunatelly VB4 is dying because of unsolved bugs and VB5.

And VB5 wasn't born properly ( now it is a handicapped faze) -
moved 2 CMS sections ( Gallery and Decor Tips) to a different platform.

I think if you removed the shadow you can get a fully simplistic layout.

You can use a different style per channel in vBulletin 5 as well. You can assign a different logo to each style or use one global logo for all styles with a single upload. Your choice. Forums, Blogs, News, Directory would all be different channels. Each can have their own unique look and feel. Each can have their own unique page layouts if you want.
