Given we have a thread with 100 posts on 10 pages, some members are writing nested comments. I've read all posts but I have to read the whole thread again and again because it could be there are new nested comments. In my eyes it's like the quote function, so we have now two ways to comment a post.
    +1

I have some threads contain +100 pages
I think it is very difficult for users to follow the comments.

Doesn't e.g. Slashdot offer nested comments? They have various filter options that allow you to keep track of these... perhaps vB5 has that too?

Wouldn't bet on that. But even if they have, do you find it useful this way? I mean, it is the same like quoting a message, more or less, only done in another way.

Some people like them, some people (like me) detest them. If you want, you can just turn them off.

Can it be used by specific usergroups only? I don't like it , but I can see the benefits of those used by moderators and admins

The nested comments to me reminds me of 3.x forums where you could view rep comments directly below a post... Also my guess if you use the activity stream rather than the thread view you'll see the comments as they are made wherever they are in the thread.

Make sure you access the demo from http://www.vbulletin.com/vb5demo.

There is a JIRA for this and visits (or views) are logged in the database.

Currently they are on or off. There are no channel permissions to control comments.

Thats good news. I do not see any point in nested comments either.

Would be nice if the passwd retrieval worked.

On the demo? just create a new account...

We're going to start wiping it "clean" every day in the near future as it is.

Looks so disorganized and crappy. I'm finally done with vB. No dreams up cool upgrades anymore.

Well, ehr, yes. That's where I've been each time.
When the meteor came crashing to Earth, I bet the dinosaurs were roaring at it in the hope of scaring it away. That didn’t work out so well for them. - Matt.
