Please keep the lawsuite out of this thread, or it will probably be closed. People will have enough to say about vB5 Connect w/o that.

AFAIK, and certainly while I have been invloved, the label rule used by vB has been as follows ;
Alpha - only released internally, and to select Alpha Team.
Beta - released to the general public.
Since this is generally available, its been labelled a beta.Baby, I was born this wayComment

I too am pretty disappointed in what I saw, and will hold off for a while before I upgrade. I have to have faith that this is an early beta with most features not implemented.
It must be hard being a vB developer. I'm not being sarcastic at all. I'm sure you are working very hard to produce a great product, but the responses have been clear and unanimously negative. I kind of expected that, but still it must be tough to hear.Comment

Should the rule not include somewhere something relating to the stability/readiness of the product? Or was it decided that something had to be released so you HAVE to call it a beta, regardless of the fact that it's really at pre-Alpha standard.Comment

You're right, I remember that tradition. And once it's called gold, it's ready to be sold.Comment

There is a lot of clear bugs that should be fixed in Alpha stage and you should not accept to pass it and move to beta
How can you pass this copy from Alpha to public Beta with this quality?Signature test :)Comment

by wired420I was able to write a simple CMS in php with a mysql backend with more features in one day. You should just delete VB5 and close your company. Your software has become an embarrassment to forum administrators...
