This is something that can be implemented in 5 minutes with a template hook.
Here is the JIRA: http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-7803

While waiting for the Go to Top button to be implemented, you may want to install the vB5 Floating Bar userscript I created. Aside from the Go to Top button, it replaces the pagination controls with the controls similar to the one at the bottom of the thread page. It also moves the +Subscribe/Unsubscribe button into the floating bar and it prevents the buttons to unnecessarily reload the page.Last edited by glennrocksvb; Tue 17 Sep '13, 4:28pm.Comment

Just made an updated version of this. Better code and technique.
Create a new template called "footer_goto_top" and place the following code within it:
HTML Code:<script type="text/javascript"> $("a[href='#top']").click(function() { $("html, body").animate({ scrollTop: 0 }, "slow"); return false; }); </script>
Go to Hooks & Products -> Hook Manager and add a new template hook. Use these values.
Hook: footer_end
Template: footer_goto_top
Active: Yes.
Give it a name and Save.
Now go to Site Builder and edit your footer. Create a new footer link called Top and its target URL should be #top. Save. Save the footer.
Reload your page. You should have a Top link in your footer and clicking it should take you to the top of the page. You can see it in action here: http://vbcodex.com
I'll need to write a new blog eventually.Translations provided by Google.

You should change the selector to $("a[href*='#top']") or change the href to href="#"Comment

I have mentioned this numerous times..
Ok, there are work arounds and codes to input but if these codes and work arounds are being suggested and taken on board then really, they should be implemented as part of the core features.. Not merely additions to get around the lack of basic functionality..
Thank you Glenn and Wayne for your efforts. It is bizarre that you really have to post these suggestions at this point.
Just get into JIRA and add them... No voting, no making of improvement requests, just do it....
Excuse my impatience...
OBVIOUSLY voted and commented....

Nothing wrong with having this addition but not making the index page infinitely long is a better idea. One either has to scroll to the header or to the footer in either case.Comment

by TLMDWe all know navigating in vB5 isn't much fun at the moment. One reason is that the floating bar definetly needs some advanced functionality. Don't get me wrong: I like the concept of having a floating...
