    Next update?

Hello as I didn't find a road map of vB5, when is the planned next major or minor update?

      Hi

We never, ever issue dates for releases.
The next release will be available when it is deemed ready for release.
At this point we will announce the fact that it is available.

From looking at Jira, it looks like there is 1 outstanding issue to clear staging; so we are getting close.. 99% of the bugs/features/fixes in 5.0.1 are ready to roll...

of course in the world of software dev, that can all change quickly!

5.0.1 is the next scheduled update. It is a "minor" update in that its an x.x.1 update and not an x.1.x update, but it should fix a significant amount of issues. It would certainly be considered a "must have" for anyone running 5.0.0 now. 5.0.2 is the next update after 5.0.1.

Minor update? I thought 5.0.1 was supposed to have the CMS, paid subscriptions, etc

CMS has been said to come in 5.1.0 however you are right, 5.0.1 should have infraction system, FAQ system and I think paid subscriptions too.

No, we only ever stated that the CMS would be added back into a future release.

The CMS was not due to be in 5.0.1.

I believe paid subscriptions are in it (need to confirm that as its hard to remember whats in what when you deal with multiple versions).

All being well, it should be next week
                (usual disclaimers apply, blah, blah).

Still... adding subscriptions, infraction system, FAQ, etc seems like quite a lot for the next update when there are lots of problems with core product.

Next update based on the JIRA status may be tomorrow or next week. Don't count my word for it...never know.

5.0.1 and 5.0.2 look promising and huge upgrades from the current version.

You may be thinking 5.1.0 not 5.0.1. 5.1.0 may have been tossed out once as a possibility of the earliest CMS release return. The CMS was never on the table for 5.0.x.

That's the main problem of vBulletin. if you guys had some deadlines there, things may have been look differently.

Deadlines can slip and then there would be riots on here, so they would never be made public even if they existed.

It has always been this way, and is with most software companies.

So the same company that put out VB4 and VB5 is all of a sudden concerned with public opinion? If they gave a damn about what customers said and thought they would not be in the mess they have been in for the last 3 or 4 years.

Most software companies? So Microsoft says, Windows 8 will be out sometime soon, not saying when, but it'll be ready when it's ready and we will surely let ya know. Right!! It's called Release Dates. At least narrow it down to a specific month...
