iOS App rejected after App Store Review - v1.7

Our iOS app (v1.7) was rejected for the following reason

17.2: Apps that require users to share personal information, such as email address and date of birth, in order to function will be rejected

    17.2

We found that your app requires customers to register with personal information to access non-account-based features, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

Specifically, the user must provide their date of birth. Please see the attached screenshot/s for more information.

Apps cannot require user registration prior to allowing access to app features and content that are not associated specifically to the user. User registration that requires the sharing of personal information must be optional or tied to account-specific functionality. Additionally, the requested information must be relevant to the features.

Was this not tested? Is there some change that's needed on the forum back-end that will help the app be approved?

Any help would be much appreciated..

Thanks Mark. Hopefully it's fixed very soon.

I would not bet on that, typically the development of the mobile suite has been even slower and more buggy than the rest of the VB mess.

Ha ha, that's true oldlock. I am not holding my breath, just hoping against hope, that it's sorted out soon. The surprising thing is, the vBulletin app(the app for this forum) was approved with the same settings. Double standards by Apple?

We only had one other reason for rejection, which is actually an insult to our neat forum..

18.2: Apps that contain user generated content that is frequently pornographic (e.g. "Chat Roulette" Apps) will be rejected

-- Apple fixed it since it was an error in judgement on their side.
